Sofia Tillman (b.1974, Norrköping) lives and works in Gothenburg, Sweden. Persistent questions and driving forces in my work are those of birth and death, transformation, passion, separation, grief, and the search for the sacred.

Through a slow and prolonged process, using materials such as egg-oil tempera, dry pastel, and charcoal, motifs emerge from both inner and outer landscapes, memories, and different states of transition. The works intertwine with scenes marked by impermanence and transformation.

The canvas becomes a place of trial, where reality confronts imagination and dream, and where the process of painting challenges the boundaries of language.
